Daniel W. Coburn Named Recipient of the 2017 Guggeheim Fellowship in Photography.

Daniel W. Coburn was invited by Eric McCollum, Professor and program director for the Marriage and Family Therapy program, as a visiting scholar at Virginia Tech University.  Daniel interacted with students and delivered a lecture on his work and research to the Department of Human Development and Family Science.

Excerpts from The Hereditary Estate featured in exhibition Album de Familia - prints from my project The Hereditary Estate will be featured in Album de Familia, at Centro Municipal de Arte Hélio Oiticica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  This exhibition was organized by esteemed curator Daniella Geo and features work by a host of acclaimed international artists including Bill Viola, Richard Billingham and Gillian Wearing.

Daniel W. Coburn to serve as Artist in Residence at Ballarat International Photo Biennale
- I will serve as artist in residence at Ballarat International Photo Biennale in Victoria, Australia from August 15 - September 5, 2016.  The residence represents a partnership between the festival and Federation University.

Line Up: Pattern, Type, Taxonomy at Texas Tech University - My project "Next of Kin' is featured in this exhibition at Texas Tech University alongside work by Keliy Anderson-Staley, Evan Baden, Dona Schwartz, Warren Harold, Robert Sebree, and Sarah Wilson. The exhibit was curated by Joe Arredondo, Peter S. Briggs, Helen DeVitt Jones and runs in conjuction with the 46th annual Comparative Literature Symposium hosted by Texas Tech.

Joyce Elaine Grant Exhibition - My project "Next of Kin" was granted a $1000 cash award by juror Elizabeth Siegel, Associate Curator of Photography at the Art Institute of Chicago.  Six of my photographs will be exhbited at the annual Joyce Elaine Grant Exhbition.

SOHO Photo Alternative Processes Competition - Juror Jill Enfield chose my print "Sanctuary" from my project "Domestic Reliquary" for inclusion in this years exhibition in New York.

Museum of Contemporary Photography MPP Collection - My project, Next of Kin, has been acquired by MoCP at Columbia College for the Midwest Photographers Project.  The portfolio will be on view by appointment for the next three years.

Helsinki Photo-Media Research Conference - I have been invited as a guest lecturer to the 2014 Photomedia Research Conference in Helskinki Finland.  I will deliver my lecture, Domestic Trauma and Vernacular Photography, at this years event which concentrates on the topic of "Photographic Powers."  Conference Dates are March 26th - March 28th 2014.

Society for Photographic Education Midwest Regional Conference - I have been invited as a guest lecturer at the 2013 SPE Midwest Conference.  I will deliver my lectue, Domestic Trauma and Vernacular Photography, at this years event.  I am also the recipient of the Notable Proposal Award.  See you in Lincoln March 24-27th!

Boundaries: The Permeability of Social Constructs - Work from my series "Domestic Reliquary" is featured in this exhibiton at the Estrainger-Howard Gallery on campus at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

UNM Art Museum: Celebrating 50 Years of the Permanent Collection - Work from my project Domestic Reliquary is featured in this exhibiton and held in the permanent collection at the University of New Mexico Art Museum.

Newish - This exhibiton showcases the work of new faculty members at the University of Kansas.  The show will include seven pieces from my project Domestic Reliquary.  The exhibition can be seen in the Art and Design Building on campus at KU.

International Photography Festival - Belo Horizonte Brazil  Daniel Coburn will travel to Brazil for the Festival Internacional de fotografia as an exhibitor, portfolio reviewer and guest lecturer.  The festival runs from July 12th to August 6th in Belo Horizonte.

SPANE Screening of Performane Art in the Natural Environment  My video/performance entitled "Communion" will be featured in a screening at Artcape Giblraltar Point, Tornto, Ontario on July 3rd.  Curated by Lindsey Allgood and Victoria Stanton.

Assistant Professor of Photo-Media, University of Kansas I recently accepted a tenure-track postion as Assistant Professor at the Unversity of Kansas.  I begin teaching classes Fall 2013.

Domestic Reliquary: Recent works by Daniel W. Coburn - This solo exhibition features one-of-a-kind photo based works from my project Domestic Reliquary. You are invited to a public reception for the artist at 5G Gallery, February 8th 5-8pm.  The exhibit runs from February 8th - 26th by appointment.

A Family Album and the Domestic Reliquary - On February 8th I will deliver a public talk at the University of New Mexico, Center for the Arts, Room 1020 at 12pm.  This talk will deliver the findings of my research and art practice which investigates the role of vernacular photogaphy in support of a false American utopia.
